Born July 28th 1878, Carl Lotick was an Indiana native from Harrison County who primarily lived and worked in New Albany, Indiana. He was a husband to Mrs. Edna Pearl Jud Lotick, a father to son Lynn L. Lotick, and a brother to the circuit court judge. He studied at the Chicago Art Institute but eventually became a self-taught artist. He would later go on to exhibit and sell his work in Indianapolis, Louisville, Chicago, St. Louis, and Cincinnati. He was known for his landscapes and frequently worked in a blue palette. Before opening his studio in New Albany, he was associated with other New Albany artist Fred G. Walker and his studio in Louisville. Additionally, he maintained a studio in Indianapolis also for many of his active year. In the 1920s, he received state wide recognition for his artwork by the New Albany Chamber of Commerce. Lotick passed away on December 17, 1958 of an ongoing heart ailment. Indianapolis Star?
