Clifton Wheeler was a student of Forsyth at Herron and Chase in New York City. After a couple trips to Europe, Wheeler settled back in Indianapolis and taught at Herron and Butler for many years.
Wheeler was a resident of Irvington (in Indianapolis), which was something of an art colony in the 1930s.
