Evelynne Bernloehr Mess Daily was a scholarship student at the John Herron Art Institute at age twelve where her teacher was Frederick Polley. Later in her student career, she briefly attended Butler and then returned to Herron, from where she took her degree.
Upon graduation, she taught at Manual High School as well as evening classes at Herron, which is where she met her first husband George Jo Mess, whom she married in 1925.
She is known for engravings, etchings and painting and was very active in both Indianapolis and Brown County.
