Francis Focer Brown was a Ball State Teachers College professor and director of the art department from 1925 until his retirement in 1957.
He was well known for his fauvist style style of painting and was a very prolific artist.
He shared a studio with his wife, Beulah H. Brown, whom he met while a student at the Herron Art Institute. Because Beulah was allergic to oil paints, most of his work is in acrylic and tempra.
Francis F. Brown was the winner of several Hoosier Salon awards from 1922-1945.
