Frank Dudley was known as a the ‘painter of the Dunes’. He first visited the Northern Indiana dunes in 1912 and built a cabin there in 1921.
Dudley was involved with the conservation movement which resulted in the Dunes becoming a state park. As the park happened to encompass his homesite, he rented his plot back from the State of Indiana for the sum of one painting a year.
