The following information was submitted by a site visitor: Ray French (1919-2000) was born in Terre Haute, Indiana. He was educator/curator at DePauw University and an importer and art dealer in the late 1970s and 1980s. French was partly responsible for the boom in prices and collecting of Hoosier Group artists. He studied under Mattison at the John Herron Institute of art in Indianapolis and has an extensive exhibition history.
