"Daubigny's First Studio" (also titled "The Charcoal Burner's Hut") was among twenty canvases Fournier created in 1909 memorializing the homes of the Barbizon masters whom he admired so much. Fournier initially kept this group of paintings together and they were widely exhibited in the United States upon his return in 1910. The first exhibit was at Schaus Art Galleries in New York. They were subsequently shown at the Detroit Art Museum, The Chicago Art Institute, The Art Gallery of the Minneapolis Public Library, The Minneapolis Institute of Arts, The Buffalo Fine Arts Academy and Vose Galleries among others. --- This painting appeared in our Sixth Annual Curated Sale of Historic Indiana Art auction on Sunday April 3, 2022 in Indianapolis.
