re: William Arnold, Jr. Eyden

William Eyden Jr. grew up in the Richmond, IN area and was taught art by his father, William Eyden, Sr. who was a fairly prominent artist of the time. Eyden is known for his Indiana beech tree landscapes. In addition to pastoral pieces, he is known to have done some amount of New York cityscapes. William Eyden Jr. was an extremely prolific artist. The following information was submitted by a site visitor: William A. Eyden Jr. (1893-1982) was a Richmond artist popular for his landscapes of beeches. He was the son of Artist William Eyden, Sr. and exhibited throughout Indiana. He owned and operated a gallery in New York City for 11 years and was a columnist for The Cornucopia's Publication of The Poet's Corner. Although several paintings by this artist exist in the collection, this particular painting uses a different palette and is in better condition than several of the others.
